Job Summary

CGSL is looking to hire an experienced and Seasoned finance executive who will be responsible for analyzing financial reports, monitoring financial transactions and overseeing income expenses. He will perform the day-to-day financial operations tasks of the company and ensure that the company’s financial records are accurate and up-to-date.

Duties and Responsibilities

General

  • Participate in the preparation of the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports/statements.
  • Ensure prompt and accurate posting of all transactions.
  • Update the GL accounts and ensure that the supporting schedules for all accounts are accurate; in preparation for month-end and year-end close procedures.
  • Assist in budget preparation, review financial variances, and analyze financial data.

Payment Processing

  • Ensure prompt payment of approved expenses and reconcile all processed payments; by verifying entries and comparing system reports to bank account balances.
  • Prepare monthly reconciliation of all payables and receivables accounts and ensure that all payments and cash receipts are applied to the appropriate invoices.

Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, accounting standards, and best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant tax laws, including prompt tax returns filing and remittance of statutory deductions as at when due.

Others

  • Prepare all account schedules in preparation for annual tax and financial statements audits and respond to audit queries.
  • Monitor and manage the daily cash and bank position and perform the monthly bank reconciliation.
  • Attend to ALL bank related matters.
  • Tracking of project income and associated expense.
  • Ensure that transactions are recorded in the appropriate accounting period and expected expenses are properly accrued.
  • Review and update the detailed schedule of company assets; including depreciation of PPE and amortization of prepayments.
  • Support other functions within the company including Operations, IT, HR/Admin.
  • Oversee the activities of the direct reports and take responsibility for their performance.
  • Support the Finance Manager with projects and tasks when required.
  • Engage in continuous knowledge and self-development.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance related discipline.
  • ACA/ACCA or other recognized accounting qualification 
  • Minimum of four (4) years experience
  • Experience working in the downstream sector of the Oil and Gas industry would be an added advantage.
